I have served as pastor in three rural churches. One of my greatest joys was the baptisms, often in a river or lake. I enjoy reading and wanted to learn about rural ministry but was disappointed with the little information out there especially pertinent to rural ministry. I wanted to do something about that.
A few years ago I co-founded the Rural Church Pastors Network with three other rural church leaders: Tim Beadle, Wayne Nuemiller, and Paul Warnock. I am no longer involved in its leadership but continue to rejoice in the work that it does in their regular meetings with local clusters of pastors in Western Canada. I wrote a book on my experiences in being a pastor in a Rural Church. The Rural Pastor is a simple book on some of the things I have learned in my years as a pastor. I hope it helps a few other rural pastors. And now I want to provide a place where rural churches and rural church leaders can go for all kinds of help for their local situation. This is that place. I am now available to coach rural pastors and train rural churches as they seek to be the best pastor and church they can be. I am also available to be a speaker or will try to build a speakers directory that you will be able to access. |
